Born and raised in Athens, Greece, DUSB went to the UK at the age of 18 to study Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and then pursued an MA in Creative Enterprise at the University of Reading.
DUSB is an artist whose work embodies an unconventional approach and a distinctive perspective. Known for blending the weird with the cool, he seamlessly integrates simplicity with complexity, always pushing boundaries in a controlled yet unorthodox manner. His journey is one of constant exploration and reinvention, where narrative and aesthetic hold paramount importance. The art itself reflects a belief in contrast and contradiction.
Beyond his paintings, he is involved in clothing design and serves as a creative director for various art and photography projects, further enriching his artistic expression.
The concept behind each piece is to control the overall atmosphere created by the combination of various components, alluding to multiple contexts. Repetition plays a significant role, reflecting the repetitive nature of certain experiences. Consequently, many pieces exhibit common patterns or styles.
The atmosphere that initiates a painting is not depicted realistically; thus, the final compositions often appear surreal, characterized by unusual scales between elements and diverse styles within a single piece. Harmony in his work is achieved through disorderly elements, with balance being a crucial factor in the composition.
Process and Materials
The pieces usually are paintings on canvas, employing a versatile range of materials. Predominantly, acrylic paint, spary paint, and various inks are used to create a vibrant and textured composition. Occasionally, his work features unexpexted elements like pencil marks, uncovered gesso primer, and collages of diverse materials, adding depth and many layers to reach to the final outcome.
